Stuck between four walls all day?
Are you - because of work or study - doomed to spend a major part of the day inside? Attention: you may have a deficit of sunlight and fresh air. So below a number of tips especially for you:
- Whenever possible, go outside for a little while every
couple of hours. Make it a habit to go for some fresh air during your
lunch break.
- Vitamin D is essential for a good memory.
- Replace coffee and black tea by water, diluted fruitjuice,
rooibos or green tea.
- Take an early lunch rather than a late one, to prevent you from
craving and grabbing the wrong food or snacks.
- Always carry a healthy snack with you, like some dried fruits
(dates, apricots, prunes, raisins) or unsalted nuts (walnuts, almonds,
raw cashew nuts)
- Bring some variety into your lunch pattern; don't always take
the same standard-lunchbox with cheese sandwiches... Be inventive; make
your lunch attractive and add a lot of bright colours, like salad,
tomato, fruit... make it attractive to look at and to taste!
- And, in case you really couldn't manage to step outside
for a while in between: make sure that you compensate for that before
or after your work or study; spend some time in the fresh air, ride
your bike, take a stroll, do a bit of jogging....
