In the mood by proper food!

In the mood by proper food!

People who are depressed, often lose interest in food. They can't be bothered to eat properly or overeat for comfort. It's part of the illness, but can actually make things worse as good nutrition is vital for our mental and physical health.

Taking care of yourself is just as important as medication and psychological therapies for depression, so we will definitely recommend Healthy Eating and Depression, a booklet from the Mental Health Foundation. Aimed at people recovering from mild and moderate depression, it explains what helps, what doesn't and why, gives clear advice on good choices, and explains how to eat healthily on a budget.

You can download it from www.mentalhealth.org.uk .
