Macadamia nuts - a real treat, in more than one way!
The Macadamia nut, also known as Macadamia ternifolia, is a very healthy and "multi purpose" nut...
- The nuts
can be used to eat, as a snack, or in salads or on casseroles or vegetable
dishes; they taste great: crunchy on the outside and lovely "melting"
and smooth on the inside. They contain many healthy vitamins and minerals, like
B-vitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, magnesium, phosphor, potassium, zinc
and copper. If you find the nuts too hard to bite, try soaking them overnight
in a little water and you'll be surprised about the total different texture and
taste: lovely soft and mild! Excellent nutritive. Only if you're watching your
weight, you'd better be moderate with the quantities.
- The
macadamia oil (obtained by pressing of
the macadamia nuts) is very suitable as an ingredient for skincare products.
The oil is soothing and nurturing and has a pleasant smell. All skin types will
benefit from this oil, and it's especially healing for the dry, irritated or
rough skin. The oil isn't greasy and is easily absorbed. Apart from skincare
products, Macadamia oil is also added to shampoos, lip gloss, sun care
products, peelings and massage oils.
