Two separate independent American studies showed that the biggest chance of success in weight loss is by setting a realistic target weight and slimming with friends or joining a group. The first study showed that, over a period of six months, slimming club members lost an average of 8lbs more than those who dieted alone. The other study(research at the University of Arizona) found that dieters who were most successful in their weightloss over the first four months, were those who had set an achievable target weight in advance.
